After working to Bristol St Phillips Marsh for tyre turning the previous day, i captured the return here at the site of Shrivenham station which closed in 1964. 57312 from a fairly recent repaint into Network Rail Yellow, hauls the 5D66 Bristol SPM - Eastleigh. 73208 is seen on the rear. 'The Fat Dog' pub can be seen in the back ground along with my car worming its way into the shot! (23-02-2012
In dire light 57312 top 'n tail 73208 on the Snow train running as 5Z66 Eastleigh - Bristol St Phillips Marsh. The unusual working is seen at Highworth Junction, Swindon. Well worth recording this as it's not every day you see an ED on GW metals. (22-02-2012)
57001 is seen approaching the site of Ashbury Crossing, Shrivenham with The Statesman 1Z91 Preston - Bristol Temple Meads, 57601 was thankfully on the rear. Running some 25 minutes early at this point and a good job as a roll of cloud caved in about 10 minutes after it had passed. (10-12-2011)
57602 'Restormal Castle' is seen at Bourton hauling the FGW Sleeper stock on a test run from Old Oak Common - Bristol TM. The train is seen on the return heading back to the capital and completed a successful test run. This came shortly after the FGW Class 57's was suffering frequent failures to their locos. The loco is pictured awaiting the road back to Old Oak Common after the unveiling ceremony which took place at Didcot Railway Centre. The driver is also seen making use of the moment to grab a shot.
